Akwa Poly Suspends 100% Increase On School Fees Following Students' Protest

The Governing Council of the Akwa Ibom State polytechnic (AKWAPOLY) has suspended the planned 100 percent increase of students school fees following protest and agitations from students of the institution.



According to the Chairman, governing council, Dr Akon Eyakenyi, the decision is to enable it look into the new policy and implement it in a way that would best suit both interest of the students and the management.



Eyakenyi called on students to always follow due process and avoid unnecessary protest as not to allow disgruntled elements to take advantage of the protest.



It will be recalled that students of the institution had on Monday embarked on a peaceful protest over 100 percent fees ‎increment where Ordinary National Diploma students were expected to pay N86,200 instead of N45,000 and Higher National Diploma students fee, increased from N38,000 to N85,700 by the school authority.
