NEC Approves Cancellation Of Withheld WAEC Results Over Exam Malpractice

The Nigeria Examinations Committee (NEC), of the West African Examinations Council (WAEC) in a communique issued at the end of the 62nd meeting of NEC WAEC held in Lagos, has approved appropriate sanctions in all established cases of malpractice in line with the rules and regulations governing the conduct of its examinations.



It was gathered that the the entire results and subject results of candidates involved in proven cases of exam malpractice would be cancelled.



It was also revealed that some candidates would be barred from sitting for the Council’s examinations for a certain number of years.



Schools indicted in exam malpractice will be de-recognised and their Principals reported to the Ministry of Education for disciplinary action while erring Supervisors will be blacklisted.



The communique, stated that these decisions of the Committee will be implemented without delay and the affected candidates and schools will be duly informed by the Council.

The committee also resolved that following cases of schools writing on the chalk board for their students to copy, any school that is warned for abetting and aiding exam malpractice up to 3 times within a period of 5 years will be de-recognized.
