Togbe Afede XIV elected President of National House of Chiefs

Togbe Afede XIV, Paramount Chief of Asogli Traditional area in Ho, Volta region has been elected the new President of the National House of Chiefs.
 
Togbe Afede, who is a business mogul, was also the immediate past president of the Volta region House of Chiefs.
 
He replaces the Wulugu Naba Pugansoa, Naa Professor John S. Nabila, who has ended his term of office.
 
Togbe Afede who is also the Board Chairman of Accra Hearts of Oak polled 25 votes in the election held in Kumasi on Thursday.
 
He beat the current Vice-President of the house, Awulae Attibrukusu III, the Omanhen of the Lower Axim Traditional Area who polled 11 votes, Osagyefuo Amotia Ofori Panin, the Okyenhene from the Eastern Region had 10 votes while Nana Kobina Nketsia V, the Omanhen of the Essikado Traditional Area managed only 3 votes.
 
Awulae Attibrukusu was tipped to assume the high office of President of the National House of Chiefs, having worked at the secretariat for four years.
 
Others also tipped the Okyenhene to carry the day, judging by his high influence on the chieftaincy landscape.
