This is something that has been an issue for years with youth sending them to a residential program, Or putting them in a detention center where the youth at the time may not be a high risk delinquent youth. When you put youth at a young age in a environment that has more negative than positive the chance of the youth becoming more delinquent are much greater. What I recommend is what Georgia is doing with some of there youth and that is Georgia Youth Challenge. The Georgia youth challenge is a program that is supported by the Georgia National Guard that is located on a Army installation Fort Gordon near Augusta GA. The goal is to provide discipline and a military structure with a no no nonsense approach, while educating, teaching skills and building highest moral values. The program is base on 8 major components academic excellence, Physical fitness, leadership/ followership, job skills, service to the community, health/ hygiene and life coping skills.
