Can sex offenders be treated? Why or why not?

As bad as this crime is, I believe that it can be treated depending on what kind of offender we are dealing with, what kind of treatment they receive and how much management, supervision and support they have. There will always be a risk they will offend again, that is the same with every crime. However, there are sex offenders who can lead normal and productive lives after receiving treatment. Training usually includes  cognitive-behavioral treatment, sex education, human sexuality, stress and anger management, social skills and substance-abuse programs. They are, also, trained in how to identify and avoid high-risk situations, how to prevent a relapse and coping skills (Allen, Latessa, Ponder, 2016) but is anyone willing to take the chance they will not reoffend when it comes to their own children?  Using Depo-provera injection for sex offenders seems like a good alternative, especially for those who show no remorse. Not all these people are evil however, they are all sick especially when it comes to the sexual abuse of a child. Depo-provera is a proven way to reduce those wandering fantasies and abnormal behaviors. In one study it showed the it is likely that this drug would  lower the risk of sex offenders committing new crimes by nearly 500 percent. A review of the scientific literature stated that sex offenders on Depo-Provera committed sex crimes only 1 percent of the time, while those not on it reoffended as often as 68 percent of the time (Ablow, 2010). Therefore, in my opinion, anyone that chooses to be a sex offender should be on depo-provera treatment, serve jail time and be on supervised probation for the rest of their lives upon release.
