Chief appeals to Mahama to name Kasoa interchange after him

The Paramount chief of Odupong Ofakor in the Central Region has appealed to government to name the Kasoa interchange which is under construction after him.
Neenyi Aworshie Tetteh Odupong said he has been on the throne for more than 50 years and has been wondering the legacy he would leave behind.
According to him, the interchange presents an opportunity for him to bequeath something his ancestors and future generations would be proud of.

Speaking at a ceremony held to welcome the Vice President, Kwesi Amissah Arthur to Kasoa as part of his tour of the Region, the chief said he would feel honoured if government should grant him his wish.
The interchange has been under construction since 2015 and is expected to be completed by the end of 2016.
It forms part of the governing National Democratic Congress (NDC) decision to ease traffic in the highly dense communities in the country.
The first to be completed was the Kwame Nkrumah interchange commissioned in November by President John Mahama.
It has been christened “little Dubai” because of the aesthetic nature of an area where first President Kwame Nkrumah effigy has been mounted.

The Ga ethnic group is claiming ‘ownership’ of the Nkrumah Interchange because it is situated in the Greater Accra Region.
Neenyi Aworshie Tetteh Odupong also said the Kasoa interchange would be a great legacy to leave behind for the people of Kasoa.
The Vice President promised the chief and people of Ofakor that he would submit the name suggestion to the President for consideration.
He said government has the welfare of the people at heart and this is seen in the many policies and projects implemented to improve the livelihood of Ghanaians.

Mr Amissah Arthur cited the E-block Community Day Senior High Schools being constructed across the country to emphasise the commitment of President Mahama to improving education.
‘The aim of the project is to improve the condition of students especially those who would be denied admission because of their performance,’ he said of the E-block.
