1(a)i State and justify the reasons for teaching Integrated Science in Nigerian
Schools.
ii State four (4) roles of Integrate Science teacher in achieving the objectives
for teaching Integrated Science. (10 marks)
(b)i Describe a marking scheme
ii Identify five(5) situations in which you may use essay questions to assess your students. (10 marks)
(c)i Describe the concept of subsumer with the aid of Ausubel’s definition
ii What is an advanced organizer?
iii Explain the relationship between subsumers and advanced organizers in
classroom instruction
iv Identify the two (2) processes in which meaningful learning can take place
according to Ausubel (10marks)
2(a)i What do you understand by a module?
ii With the aid of a diagram illustrate Bajah’s (1981) module on Energy. (10 marks)
(b) Briefly discuss the University of Nigeria Primary Science Pilot Scheme. Point out:
i the financier;
ii date of initiation of the project;
iii the focus of the project;
iv the curriculum material(s) produced;
v emphasis of the project;
vi the initiator of the scheme; and
vii place of first execution of the project. (10 marks)
3(a)i Discuss the laboratory method of teaching Integrated Science.
ii State three (3) advantages and two (2) disadvantages of the method. (10 marks)
(b) Identify and discuss causes of lack of uniformity in teaching Science in the past and the effects of these causes in the teaching of Science in Schools before the adoption of Integrated Science. (10 marks)
4(a)i State and explain R. Gagne’s theory of learning hierarchy
ii What are the implications of this theory of learning for Science teaching
and Curriculum development? (10 marks) (b)i State Obe (1977) definition of a test
ii Discuss three (3) functions of classroom test under Findley (1963)
