Elections Are Not Battle Grounds For War- GRASAG-Legon President

As Ghana prepares to vote on December 7, the President of the Graduate Students Association of Ghana (GRASAG)- Legon, Mr Nana Kwame Asafo-Adjei Ayeh is urging Ghanaians to see elections as any ordinary process they must go through to elect their leaders to manage the affairs of the country.

According to him, this year’s elections is not different from the previous elections we have had in the past and therefore should not be seen as a battle ground for wars.

“We’ve had series of elections in the past; in 1992, 1996, 2000, 2004, 2008, 2012 and now 2016. It is not different from what we are going to do now and what people have been saying over the years; we need peace, it has been the same trend. My problem is that, we need to grow as a nation. We need to get to a point where elections will be seen by the nation and by the citizens as any ordinary process that we go through to choose who becomes our leader, not a war battle ground,” he said in an interview on #GhCampusChat.

He challenged State’s institutions mandated to carry out and monitor elections to ensure that Ghana comes out of this year’s elections peacefully and successfully.
