Some first year students of Academy of Christ King Senior High School in the Cape Coast Metropolis of the Central Region are studying under canopies as a result of unavailability of enough classrooms.
The students of three classes, thus Form one General Arts I, II and III are all currently receiving lessons under canopies enduring the scorching sun.They are also exposed to reptiles as well as intermittent insect bites during classes.
According to an old student of the school, he said the situation is unbearable for both students and teachers encouraging some of them to absent themselves from class due to the scorching sun.
He added that construction of classroom blocks for the school which started during Professor Atta-Mills led administration stalled after his demise in 2012.
He is appealing to the Ministry of Education and other benevolent organizations to come to the aid of the school and students.
“As a concerned citizen, I wish to call on the ministry of education and the minister to as a matter of urgency come to the aid of the school and assist them to avoid any future calamity,” he said.
The school which was established Forty one years ago, can only boast of an ICT Centre with spoilt desktop computers and rlg laptops, a science Laboratory with inadequate resources, classroom and dining under canopies.
