1. Man’s readiness to settle differences by force of arms has been a feature of society since prehistory. Man’s attempt to place rational bounds on the use of force, emerging from his revulsion against the scourge of war, is almost as old. This struggle to impose rationality on reality was a central feature of the enlightenment and the ‘Age of Reason’ in the eighteenth century. Discuss. (25 marks)
