The National Association of Aircraft Pilots and Engineers (NAAPE) on Wednesday morning shut down Bristow Helicopters nationwide over plans to disengage its Nigerian pilots and engineers.
NAAPE said the shutdown on the helicopter company is as a result of the Bristow management’s declaration of 13 Nigerian engineers and 10 Nigerian pilots redundant.
They said the company’s expatriate quota is grossly in contravention of the country’s laws.
Early this morning, Bristow’s operations nationwide especially in Port Harcourt, Lagos, Warri and all the oil and gas contracts were shut.
Altogether about 40 Helicopters belonging to Bristow were grounded.
National President of NAAPE, Comrade Isaac Balami said the association took the decision because the company refused to do the needful.
