NANS Passes Vote Of Confidence On Gov Abiodun’s Aide On Students’ Matters
National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS), South West, Zone D, has passed a vote of confidence on the Special Assistant on Students’ Matters to Governor Dapo Abiodun of Ogun State, Adeyemi Azeez.
They reached the resolution at a meeting held in Ibadan, the Oyo State capital, on Thursday, where the body also appealed to Governor Abiodun to disregard the campaign of calumny against the former national public relations officer of the association.
The Coordinator of NANS in the zone, Kowe Odunayo, while speaking with Journalists after the meeting, identified some individuals as the brain behind the plot to recall Azeez from his current position.
According to him, “The dangerous trend of students leaders having affiliation with politicians and political parties has reached an even dangerous dimension in recent times.
The usual end product of turning students’ union office holders to political stooges and puppets in serving the whims and caprices of politicians will always be to the detriment of our sector.
“It is saddening that this set of comrades, who allowed their conscience to be eroded in exchange for peanuts have at different times enjoyed the magnanimity of this same Adeyemi Azeez.
“The recent campaign of calumny against the government aide and the subsequent kangaroo deadline given to Ogun State governor is an unfortunate plot to discredit the former NANS National PRO.
“We therefore appeal to the Governor of Ogun State to totally ignore the mindless political ploy to rob him of his best brain to handle the students’ constituency; heeding their asinine request will completely expose the sector to endless challenges that are absent for now.
