It all began in a bus
Full of passengers who didn’t hesitate to curse
The air was tense and void of serenity
Like there was another tsunami
Despite the loveless state of the atmosphere
An angel beside me could still stare
Curiosity won and I looked in return
Oh! What an embellishment to the world
Like an artist’s masterpiece
She was an epitome of boundless bliss
With her display of radiance
I immediately went into a trance
To say I fell in love at first sight
Is a gross understatement of my plight
She was a belle one wished he knew
An artwork one pays to view
My lips parted, revealing eager teeth
Body shuddered while the heart beat
She smiled back in glaring ecstasy
And the aura of royalty was pervasive
O! I felt her mild caress on my gentle soul
And my world became bright like a Roman rose
I loved her then with every fibre of my being
It was lucid even to forces that were unseen
As I looked into her eyes with burning desire
She stared back, eyes prodding me to release the fire
We shut the others out of our world
Just the two of us with our boiling blood
I nudged my head forward with protruded lips
She assumed similar posture with encouraging ease
How easy it all was
To find love in this Lagos bus
The lips got close as my tongue lost patience
It shot out of its captor who had no conscience
Broke into her lips in stunning speed
And embraced its counterpart while the lips kissed
“Bob, wake! Wake, Bob” I heard my name
A dream it all was; the pain was grave.
