The local NUGS Secretariat of the University for Development Studies, Wa Campus will be conducting blood donation exercise with the theme “donate blood to save life” as part of their programs and activities of their administration.
This was made public to the student populace and the people of Upper West Region through a memo signed by the local NUGS executives. It was indicated that, the exercise will be coming off on the Tuesday 14th of February, 2017 at the fore court of Lecture hall one and two of the University’s campus.
The President of the Secretariat, Mr. Nkrumah Jacob said in an interview with the most authoritative and captivating show, Matters Arising host, Sir Noble, that the local NUGS secretariat has identified a critical problem in the Wa Municipality and the Upper West Region as a whole and hence the need for them to use this exercise to contribute their quota in addressing it. Zigy as he is affectionately called also lamented that, “the blood donation exercise will help mobilze students to support the blood bank of the University Clinic”.
He also asserted that, “as leaders of the ‘universal city’ there is the need to harness the resources and or potentials of our constituents to help contribute to the development of the society and add value to the existing structures to demonstrate the importance of our existence and showcase our quest to help build a better society. The blood bank of the University Clinic has inefficient blood stock as a reserved resource to be meted out to patients who would need blood transfusion”.
He concluded by listing MTN Ghana, Hena Medicals, Nestle Ghana, Bill Laboratory, UDS Wa Clinic, Regional Blood Bank Directorate as Sponsors whilst UDS TV, Footprints, Neul’s Events and Ultimate 94.7 FM are the media partners of this exercise.
