University Of Ghana Shuttle Fares To Go Up By 43 Percent In December

Shuttle users on University of Ghana campus should expect to pay more fares for shuttle services effective December, 2016.

This follows recent announcement by the Road Safety & Transportation Consultancies (RSTC), providers of shuttle services that the fare will be increased from 70 pesewas to GH¢1.

Speaking on Radio Univers’ campus exclusive show Tuesday morning, the Chief Executive Officer of RSTC, Mr. Godfred Akyea- Dankwah justified the proposed 43% increment saying, it has become necessary to adjust the fares upwards due to the rising cost of operating the shuttle service as well as low patronage of their services.

The service which was inaugurated in October last year is a Public-Private Partnership between University of Ghana and Road Safety and Transport Consultancy (RSTC) Limited. This was a move by the University authorities to ease transportation problems that students, staff and guests go through on campus. In all, a total of ten buses were supplied for the service.

Mr Akyea- Dankwah also hinted that plans are far advance to introduce an electronic payment system for shuttle users. This initiative he said will offer customers the opportunity to get discounts on payments each time they patronize their services.
