The Minister of Youth and Sports Development, Solomon Dalung, has reacted to the death of three corps members, Elechi Chinyerum Nwenenda, Oladepo Ifedolapo and Asuquo Ukeme Monday, who died in the on-gong 2016 Batch 'B' (Stream I) Orientation Course in Bayelsa, Kano and Zamfara States respectively. The Bayelsa State Orientation Camp at Kaiama, Kolokuma-Opokuma Local Government Area of the state has been thrown into a mourning mood following the death of a female member of the National Youth Service Corps, who reportedly died under a mysterious circumstance. Miss Elechi Chiyerom, aged 27, was confirmed dead on Tuesday. She reportedly bled and vomited after arriving at the camp. Elechi, a graduate of the Ignatius Azuru University of Education, Port Harcourt, Rivers State, was confirmed dead about 9pm on Tuesday five days after arriving at the camp. According to her colleagues the deceased had been “terribly sick” since she arrived at the camp and could not participate in some opening sessions at the camp. The National Youth Service Corp (NYSC), has announced that the 2016 batch 'B' Prospective corp members would go in two streams. The Director General of the NYSC, Brigadier-General Sule Kazaure in a chat with newsmen in Abuja on Wednesday, disclosed that 2016 Batch ‘B’ stream 1 will commence orientation exercise on the 24th of November while stream 2 are expected to commence orientation in January 2017. The DG stated that provision was made for the mobilization of a total of 210,000 corps members. However, the figure for both 2016 Batch ‘A’ and Batch ‘B’ has more than doubled the original projection.
