Lokhanda officially Launches; Charges Women To Learn Self-Defense Mechanisms

Lokhanda, a non-profit global personal safety organization specialized in revolutionary self-defense and child protection-related services, has officially launched in Accra with a call on all women to learn basic self-defense techniques.

The launch took place at the British Council in Accra on Saturday, 19th November, 2016.

Speaking at the event, the founder, Mr Lord Kwadjo Andoh recalled how the journey all began in 2006 when he started training his colleagues in martial arts to a point where he almost quit school to focus on the training.

He said, although he took his education seriously, he again engaged his colleagues in martial arts training at the Ghana Technology University College (GTUC) where he had his undergraduate studies.

He noted that his passion and love for the arts drove him to set up “Lokhanda Martial Arts Society of Ghana” which has been re-branded as Lokhanda to focus on self-defense and women empowerment.

The guest speaker, actress Amy Okaitei reiterated the founder’s call for everyone especially women to learn self-defense mechanisms.

“I’ve always been a victim of bullies, so that is enough for me to support the call for women to learn defense mechanisms,” she said.

The team had also planned to premiere their self-produced movie titled: ‘Silence’, but due to technical hitches, it could not come off leaving patrons
