Instruction: Attempt the compulsory question and two other questions making a total of
three questions. The compulsory question carries 30 marks. All the other questions carry 20 marks each.
Question No. 1 (COMPULSORY)
- (a) Define Comparative Management
(b) What is the basic difference between management and administration?
(c) List five areas in which management and administration are found to be similar
- The word “organization” can stand for structure, framework, system, organized body,
or process of regulating and facilitating work. Using the above as basic
understanding, write short notes on the following:
- Organization of materials
- Organization of human resources
- Organization of ideas and principles
- (a) Give six functions of organization
(b) Provide five functions of administration
- In comparative management, there are two fundamental theories:
“universalistic theory of management” and “particularistic theory of management”.
Explain in detail the thrust of each of the two theories.
- With regard to work classification and design, compare traditional job design as it practices in American firms with what obtains in Japanese’s companies.
